Mr. Kochan received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from Catholic University of America, where he majored in Mechanical-Ocean Engineering.
He is a Fellow, Diplomate, and member of the founding board of the American College of Forensic Engineering and Technology. Mr. Kochan has over 30 years of forensic investigative experience in mechanical marine equipment and system design, personal injury and accident investigation, consumer product defect analysis, petrochemical process system failure analysis, and maritime catastrophic fire and collision events.
He has been qualified as an engineering expert in numerous District, State and Federal courts, and is specifically recognized as a large loss specialist related to mechanical system design, product defect analysis, accident reconstruction, forensic analysis procedures and marine vessel operational safety.
Mr. Kochan is a member of the Hampton and Florida Yacht Clubs, and he serves his community through volunteer efforts as a member of the Hampton City Zoning Board Grievance Committee, and as an active supporter of Virginia Youth Sailing, a 501c-3 organization.
He enjoys spending weekends boating with his family.

Mr. Ford is a licensed Professional Engineer with 25 years of experience in Quality and Systems Engineering. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire and Project Management Master’s Certificate from George Washington University.
He has successfully served as an engineer in both the public and private sectors. His extensive professional career includes functioning as the subject matter expert for investigations of residential and industrial failures.
Mr. Ford’s additional training includes Risk Management, NCIS Counter Intelligence, NAVSEA Litigation, Modeling and Simulation, Technical Writing, and Records Management of Classified Documents. He enjoys a round of golf in his spare time.



Mr. Forbes has 30 years of experience in Civil and Environmental Engineering and is particularly experienced in design management including new facility site planning, sewage system design, environmental protection, and construction surveillance.
He is a diplomat of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and has managed numerous facility planning, design, and building efforts in Virginia, North Carolina, and Maryland. Additionally, he has managed projects in Italy, Puerto Rico, and Cuba for the U.S. Navy. A significant part of this experience has involved the determination of adequacy of existing facilities for existing or intended uses, compliance with codes, regulations and standards, and suitability for continued use.
Mr. Forbes is also a Board-Certified Engineer in Water Supply/Wastewater and performs forensic analysis of civil, structural, product defect, waterfront structure and environmental engineering failures.

Mr. Bell is a licensed Professional Engineer in California. Mr. Bell uses the latest analytical instrumentation in combination with 40 years of practical metallurgical engineering experience to furnish the best possible resolutions in terms of safety, productivity and use of resources. Industry now has ‘Health Care for Machinery’ because of Mr. Bell’s contributions. Clients served are food processing, agriculture, energy and power generation, marine industry, hydrocarbon processing, and now extending to "green" technologies such as wind turbines, geothermal, and transportation for North America and Europe.
According to Mr. Bell, “The concept of ‘Health Care for Machinery’ is used to prevent future problems in equipment. An engineering review of design, materials, and service environment can identify potential failures that are unsafe and costly. It has been my experience that most problems are caused because good engineering basics, that have been well known for 60 years or more, are still being violated. I have been successful by applying in-depth experience, use of metallurgical technologies and excellent problem-solving skills to solve and prevent machinery failures.”

Mr. Biller specializes in forensic fire protection engineering to evaluate fire hazards as well as fire protection systems and features, (e.g. sprinkler systems, commercial cooking fire suppression systems, fire detection and alarm systems, and fire barriers). Mr. Biller is a senior fire protection engineer experienced in a diverse portfolio of projects including healthcare, industrial, detention, assembly, retail, residential and office occupancies.
He has a broad range of experience from three important perspectives within the building industry working as owner’s representative, a design professional, and working for various regulating authorities. This experience has helped him develop a more holistic approach to building code compliance and fire protection analysis. He is a registered fire protection engineer in Virginia, New York and North Carolina with over 16 years of experience. Mr. Biller has extensive knowledge of building codes, fire codes, accessibility codes, NFPA standards, and understanding of fire phenomena.

Mr. Bradshaw graduated from Coker College where his creative talents and attention to detail were cultivated. Specializing in duplication projects, film/video conversions, full video productions, and more. As a Suffolk, VA native, Bradshaw has a deep appreciation for the rich heritage and wonderful people in this area.


Mr. Evans is a Licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina and a USPTO Registered Patent Agent. Mr. Evans has extensive experience in research and development for telecom, military and consumer products, and over ten years of experience in intellectual property management. Mr. Smith has worked in the engineering industry for over thirty years with experience in consumer and industrial electronics.


Mr. Gsell’s professional career includes over 35 years of experience in the field of electrical engineering, testing, and failure analysis. He received a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Technology from the University of Hartford in 1981 and a Master of Science Degree in Engineering Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1992. Mr. Gsell is also a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator, an IAMI Certified Marine Investigator, and a licensed Professional Electrical Engineer in Power Systems in the State of Texas.

Mr. Jacobson is an Evidence Photographers International Council - Certified Evidence Photographer, holding the same forensic photography certification as many police investigators, crime lab photographers, fire investigators and federal agents. His videos and photographs are instrumental in determining the causation of losses in civil and criminal litigation, construction defects, and environmental damages, and more. Mr. Jacobson has been designated as an expert witness for numerous depositions and trials.
In his spare time, he shares his knowledge of photography by teaching workshops to attorneys, government agencies and private firms.


Mr. Hogan is a registered engineer in five states, a registered Roof Consultant, a fellow of RCI, Senior Editor of Interface - the journal of the Roof Consultants Institute - and an ICC structural masonry inspector. Mr. Hogan has designed and administered roofing projects in half of the United States using a variety of systems.
His technical articles have appeared in various publications, including Plant Engineering, Interface Journal, Western Roofing, Journal of Hydraulic Engineering and Architectural Specifier.

Mr. Keith is a licensed Professional Electrical Engineer in the state of North Carolina. He is a proud graduate of Penn State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University and his Master’s in Electrical & Computer Engineering.
He has over 30 years of experience spanning various electronic and electrical industries and products. His expertise is in the areas of electrical and electronic hardware design, product compliance, patent infringement, failure analysis, surge analysis, fire investigation and telecom and data communications, industrial automation, and controls, embedded processor design, and high speed circuit design in both analog and digital systems. He has investigated numerous cases for attorneys, Insurance companies, industry and government.
In addition, he is a founding and current board member of Liquid Software Designs Inc., providing Practice Management and EMR software solutions to the eye care industry.

As a professionally qualified expert in the analysis and evaluation of aviation matters involving flight operations, pilot training and airframe maintenance, Mr. Kochan is a FAA qualified pilot, certified flight instructor and airframe & power plant mechanic with inspector authorization.
He is a Certified FAR Part 121 Air Carrier pilot and flight training Captain (retired) in commercial, single and multi-engine land and sea, turbo-prop and turbojet powered aircraft. Additionally, he provides clients with pilot flight instruction and aircraft maintenance consultations and inspections.

Dr. Kochan is a recognized industry expert in the areas of aviation human factors, pilot safety training, flight hazard recognition and flight operation efficiency. She is currently a Line Captain on Boeing-767 for major air freight transport carrier.
Dr. Kochan developed and maintained Human Factors and Crew Resource Management programs for a major U.S. Air Carrier, is experienced in providing liaise and interface between the professional human factors community and clients and employers, and has recognized human factors expertise in aviation safety and pilot evaluation techniques. Additionally, she holds an FAA Airline Transport Pilot airman certificate and Airframe and Powerplant Certificates.

Mr. Krewson is registered Professional Engineer in Georgia and Florida with forty years of experience in planning, project management, engineering design and forensic evaluation. He has worked in both government and the private sector.
During his career, he has prepared the designs and provided construction management services for over one thousand engineering projects including comprehensive high schools, middle and elementary schools, hospital additions, churches, multifamily and single-family residential developments, and commercial and industrial projects.



Mr. Stowell earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis is structures from Mississippi State University. Mr. Stowell is a registered Professional Engineer with over 15 years of structural design, structural inspection, and bridge inspection program management experience.
Mr. Stowell began his career in 2005 at the Mississippi Department of Transportation as a bridge design engineer, bridge inspector, and as the State’s bridge load rating engineer, where he was responsible for determining safe loads on all State maintained bridges. He worked alongside the Federal Highway Administration and the State’s bridge inspection program manager to ensure safe and operable roadways for public use. He has served primarily as a forensic Civil/Structural Engineer since 2015, and is responsible for engineering projects requiring determination of the cause, origin, and extent/severity of damage to buildings and structures throughout the southeast United States.


Mr. Lawson is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator as well as a Certified Marine Investigator. Mr. Lawson’s background includes fire service, law enforcement, and private industry work that spans over 25 years. Mr. Lawson served on local and state law enforcement levels before his time in the private industry with a major insurance carrier.
Mr. Lawson is not only skilled in the public sector, but also in the insurance industry where he spent ten years with the SIU fire division of a major insurance company. During his tenure as an insurance professional, Mr. Lawson held the titles of fire investigator, and lead fire investigator, and participated in the leadership development program.
Mr. Lawson has testified in both state and federal courts as an expert witness in both fire and marine investigations. Mr. Lawson has held certifications as a police officer, firefighter 1 and 2, fire inspector 1 and 2, HAZ-MAT, Certified Marine Investigator, Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator and LA Certified Fire Investigator. During his tenure as a state investigator, Mr. Lawson was selected as the 2004 LA Investigator of the year through the Louisiana Chapter of IAAI.


With over 35 years of Safety Consulting and Expert Witness Testimony, Mr. Litwin has developed and perfected a deliberate, step-by-step, and orderly approach to analyzing the safety of a product or work procedure.
His Engineering Safety Analysis format and his unique educational background and work experience have given him a competitive edge against his peers. He has testified as an expert in most states, by deposition in over two hundred cases and at trial in well over 100 cases.
Mr. Litwin has published on the subject of powered doors & gates and has worked with the states of Minnesota and California regarding their state standards for residential overhead doors. He has also published, given talks on, and performed research and testing on aquatic accidents.
Mr. Litwin has served as an expert in slip and fall accidents and researched the safety of handicap curb cuts for the City of Chicago. Other work includes empirical testing and anthropometric research on machine guarding. Mr. Litwin has served on the ANSI Scaffolding, ANSI Ladder and ANSI Bakery Machinery Code Committees.

Mr. Kreimborg earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Mr. Kreimborg has over 40 years of engineering experience including construction and project management of power plants plant projects, computer centers and commercial offices.
His experience in forensic engineering began in 1995, and he has investigated assignments involving structural damage and collapse, foundation and geotechnical failures, commercial roofing defects, and leakage and hail damage. Mr. Kreimborg has been qualified as an engineering expert in District, State and Federal courts. Mr. Kreimborg enjoys spending his spare time playing golf, tennis, or bridge, and visiting entertainment venues in Washington, DC near his home.

Mr. Lopera earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida and is pursuing a Master's degree in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Central Florida.
He is a licensed Professional Engineer and brings over eleven years of experience as a structural engineer for hundreds of projects including churches, office buildings, amenity centers, multi-family buildings and custom ocean-front homes. Mr. Lopera is fluent in Spanish.


Mr. Meador has over 39 years of experience with ExxonMobil in marine, refining and construction safety operations. He has been recognized by ExxonMobil as an Advanced Safety Professional – Safety Management Assessor and serves as company Security Officer for ExxonMobil’s domestic operations, and was a presenter at Marine Log’s 2007 Maritime Security conference in Washington, DC.
Mr. Meador’s extensive experience includes assessing the effectiveness of safety management systems by conducting assessments or as an expert witness, and has conducted numerous incident investigations primary utilizing TapRooT system, as well as an international trainer in Incident Investigation & TapRooT.





Erich Roscher, PE, CBO is a Professional Engineer and Certified Building Official with a diverse background in all aspects of building design & construction.
Mr. Roscher has over 10 years of experience in the building structural and construction industries. He has a diverse experience in residential, commercial, and industrial design and construction with projects all over the world. He specializes in light frame construction, high wind zone design, and code analysis. Erich serves as the structural collapse lead for the local rescue squad as a Safety Assessment Program Evaluator through CalOES and FEMA Structural Specialist through the Army Corps of Engineers.
Mr. Senkowski is a Registered Professional Engineer in Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, and North Carolina. He majored in Fuel Engineering at Penn State University and holds an MBA from Drexel University. He is a certified Professional Coating Specialist with SSPC (Society for Protective Coatings) and a certified Level 3 Coatings Inspector with NACE International (National Association of Corrosion Engineers). Mr. Senkowski is a Forensic Engineer specializing in failures associated with protective coatings and corrosion control systems.
He has been an expert witness in arbitration, mediation and circuit court cases involving many facets of coating work. He brings 50 years of experience in the forensic analysis and conditional assessment of coating failures. This work has involved protective and architectural coatings applied to a broad spectrum of surfaces that have included ferrous and non-ferrous metals, masonry, concrete, plastics, wood, and glass. His projects have included the analysis of protective coatings in nuclear and fossil fuel plants, petrochemical facilities, storage tanks, docks and bulkheads, marine vessels, underground pipelines, bridges, sewage and water treatment plants, athletic stadiums, as well as commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.


Ms. Wong has provided internationally recognized forensic document examination skills and expertise skills for over twenty-four years and has lent her services to cases ranging from commercial litigation to civil trials on an international scale.




Corporate Administrative Staff

April holds the responsibility for overseeing the overall operations of FAEC’s multi-state technical and administrative services. As Chief Operating Officer, she oversees all Human Resources, financial, and office management activities within the firm’s growing enterprise.
A graduate of Louisiana State University and former financial portfolio and real estate manager, Mrs. Kochan’s talents for identifying issues and charting a path to a successful solution has served the firm, FAEC clients and trade vendors exceptionally well.
April is a Master Gardener and proud mother of three adult children. She also is a mom to her Labradoodle, Charlie, and a volunteer for the Garden Clubs of Virginia.

Meagan manages and facilitates projects and operations within the company. Her work includes overseeing daily operations, client relations, and quality assurance for the firm.
Prior to joining FAEC, she worked as a Property Manager with Artcraft Management Inc. in the multi-family housing industry. Meagan is finishing her B.S. in Accounting at Old Dominion University.
